the only thing fun from today was the prank phone calls I made during my lesson with the boys. They told me to just speak in English to their friends. All the girls we called I told that the boys liked them. That is all.

It’s Been Awhile

So, there hasn’t been that much to share. I haven’t had a night class in two weeks, but had one student show up for class Thursday. We went to dinner and I kept it short. The weekend wasn’t anything special; although, I did see Hyun-suk for the first time in two months on Friday. We made plans to have dinner and see a movie next Saturday. Last night, that’s Saturday, I met a buddy for some soju and food. It was good to finally get out again and do something. Today I spent some time reading in the sunshine (The Bourne Identity, which I didn’t know was actually written in 1980). The weather was almost perfect. Then it was on to Home Plus, where they were having a crazy suit sale, but I didn’t really want to just get something off the rack outside. My dad and I threw the ball around and meandered outside for a little before watching a really great B’s 5-4 OT win with a great goal from Marc Savard in his first game back from his concussion. The Red Sox are terrible and can’t seem to put it together, but at least the Tigers had a nice walk-off win I watched earlier in the day. I made my bed and am getting ready for the week.

It was pretty sunny today and actually warm enough for me to open up the window a little since I can’t even remember when. The day was completely regular. The only interesting thing was on my way out of Home Plus, as I was putting the lock back around my seat, I noticed that my butt rest was missing. I looked all over for it and eventually noticed that it was sitting on someone else’s bike. Some hooligan must have had some fun while I was inside. Following that was a walk, baseball and spaghetti sauce with my dad. Some laundry, bathroom cleaning and relaxing in my apartment. The end.

Swimming

This morning started off with some serious frustration due to what I have now learned is called the “Blue Screen of Death” and normally doesn’t happen on new editions of windows. I managed to get my computer up and running after my run and was so nervous that I didn’t touch it for 20 minutes after I logged in. James sent me a text shortly after and we went swimming in the basement of a department store. He needed to get a bathing suit (his girlfriend suggested something revealing). Since the bathing suits were on sale and I have never worn a speedo style suit, I also got one. This suit turned out to be way too small and it looked almost like a thong because it rode really far up my tush. I could tell all the people at the pool were checking it out. After our swim we went back to James and burned a downloaded copy of Windows Vista for me (I have the key for it on the bottom of my computer). Then I went to my dad’s and we watched the Bruins lose and Sox win. Now I’m about to shower and sleep.

Big, Bad Bruins

Today was all about the Bruins/Sabres game. Nothing else I did today was of any consequence in comparison with the game. Although, I did have a very nice and long conversation with my Rosens. The game was amazing, and I lucked out by no one showing up for my night class again. I had watched the first period with my dad, went to check for students and then went back for the remainder of the game. The B’s were down 2-0 after two periods and Ryan Miller was looking like he wasn’t going to let anything passed him. The Bruins got two relatively quick goals and all of a sudden the game was headed to OT. Miller and Tuuka Rask were amazing and they both extended the game quite a bit. When Michael Ryder make a break into the offensive zone after a long outlet pass from Rask, making a great move to step around a defender before sending a perfect feed to the slot for Miroslav Satan. Satan maneuvered around an out of position Miller and slid the puck between defenseman Tyler Myers legs for the game winner. My heart was racing the whole time. It was unreal. Hopefully there will be more amazing games on tomorrow. Red Wings need a win.

Days Go By

I guess it’s been a few days. There isn’t anything out of the ordinary here other than the super-warm weather today. I sat outside with no shirt on. It felt great. The B’s won a great game and the Sox continued their streak of getting scored on a lot and not scoring themselves. Basically a day in the Korean life of Gabe.

Big Wing

The Tigers kind of stunk it up this morning and the Red Sox lost two to the Rays, but that didn’t diminish my overall enjoyment of the day. It started of rather inauspiciously with a yoga workout and a couple of episodes of Bones that I was behind on. The strange strain in my side seems to be changing and getting worse by the day and I’m just going to have to bite the bullet and hold off on getting it checked out until I get home because I don’t trust having it treated here.

In the afternoon I did a little writing and skyping before going to Home Plus. After Home Plus I went to my dad’s and we took a quick walk before settling in to watch some hockey. The Bruins/Sabres game was extremely exciting and it was even better because the good guys came out on top after an all-out effort. I managed to make some spaghetti sauce and we watched another Red Sox disappointment.

Back to my apartment I went to finish making my bed and shower so that I can get to sleep because class resumes tomorrow; although, I have a feeling I will be waking up early for nothing because it is the week of midterms and all of my students will be studying or, more likely, sleeping.

Don’t Worry; I’m Still Alive

I just wanted to let everyone know that I’m still alive. All my days have been pretty much the same and there is nothing to really report. One of the only things is that the new director at school is trying to get me to teach another class and I practically refused him. Other than that I’m just watching playoff hockey, baseball and doing my usual Gabe thing.

Winter is Back (What the Heck Man)

Winter back-handed me really hard right across the face when I strode confidently out of the apartment this morning. It was a rude greeting and I spent most of my workout mumbling to myself about how much the weather in Korea sucks and how mild the weather is at home right now. The other guy at the gym must have thought I was insane, but he doesn’t understand that’s just how I roll man.

Because of my depression I took the day off from yoga, which has actually been counteractive to healing my strained side. So it was beneficial, but certainly made for a long and relatively boring afternoon. At least I got to do some major skyping and watch the newest episode of Lost. I’m really worried that we’re going to run out of episodes and still have idea what the &(^% is going on.

I spent a little time with my dad before going to my lesson with the girls. We played a few phone conversation games using their new English books before they wanted to be animals. I was a shark, monkey and a guerrilla and terrorized those girls. They might even have nightmares tonight. Yeah, I’m a scary guy. Don’t get in my way or you’ll get shark bit. Rarrrrr. Grrrrr.

Goodbye Long Hair

Yesterday was filled with sports. There really weren’t many more games that I could have watched. After a workout and yoga in the morning I spent the rest of the day watching baseball and hockey with one break to go teach my lesson at 8. I watched a replay of the Tigers amazing comeback from 7-1 to beat the Indians 9-8 on a walk-off wild pitch. Then at my dad’s I watched the Bruins clinch sixth place in the east by beating the Caps 4-3 in a shootout and then the Red Sox beating the Royals 8-6. After my lesson I watched the Flyers beat the Rangers in a shootout and get the final playoff spot.

Today felt like a new day for me because I knew I was going to get my haircut. However, the day had two bad losses in it. The Tigers lost to the Royals and the Red Sox lost to the Twins in the Target Field opener. After watching the game with my dad I decided it was time to get my hair cut and went to a salon nearby. The owner cut my hair, but really scared me because they don’t use clippers on the sides like at home. Everything is done with scissors and has to be eyeballed and isn’t perfectly even. The cut wound up all right, but a little longer in back and on the sides than I normally like. Next time I will tell him to go a little shorter. He also cut my bangs a little too short and I almost cried. When all was said and done it was pretty good and it’s so cheap I will get it cut again in a few weeks, but I will be happy when I can get my hair cut at Fantastic Sams at M-5 and 14 Mile again.
